CTV Danlambao/Translated by Như Ngọc - After 9 days of silence, Hanoi police has announced the reason for making urgent arrest and detaining Nguyen Viet Dung, the man who dons an airborne uniform of the former Republic of Vietnam appearing during a protest at Hoan Kiem Lake in the morning of Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Nguyen Viet Dung, nickname Dung Phi Ho, was charged with "disturbing public order" under Article 245 of the penal code, a charge that would confine this 29 year-old man from Nghe An up to seven years in prison.

Notably, the arrest warrant is dated Monday, April 13, 2015, but Dung's family receives it on April 20, 2015.

Earlier, his younger sister, Nguyen Thi Dieu Anh had repeatedly made inquiries about his detention at Hoan Kiem police station without any results.

According to witnesses who attended the protest on the morning of April 12, 2015, Nguyen Viet Dung and his 4 friends made peaceful protest and displayed the disciplines of a good soldier.

When the protest ended, the five young men were secretly arrested by police and some other protesters were also summoned that night. All of them were released after 2 days of detention except Dung has been detained for 9 days.

In addition to making illegal arrest, the communist authorities have fabricated charges against Nguyen Viet Dung to justify the acts of arbitrary arrest and detention.

Although 40 years have passed, any symbols of the former Republic of Vietnam would still cause worries to the communist dictatorship.
